Nick and Hannah’s story began on July 7th, 2021, a day that would change both of their lives forever. That was Hannah’s first day at Northwestern Mutual, fresh off her graduation from Columbia College Chicago, where she studied Fashion Business. Little did she know, that day would mark the start of a journey that would lead her to her future husband.
Nick, also freshly graduated from the University of St. Thomas, with a degree in Financial Management, was starting his first full-time year as a financial advisor after interning at the firm since he was only 15 years old.
Their first interaction took place when Nick was waiting for the elevator, and Hannah walked up beside him. Nick looked at her and thought, Wow, that’s the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen. He introduced himself, and they rode the elevator together, exchanging casual conversation. But Hannah, feeling nervous about an office happy hour she was heading to, didn’t think much of it. Meanwhile, Nick couldn’t help but admire her during the event, sneaking a few glances when he thought she wasn’t looking.
At the time, they each had very different first impressions of one another. Nick thought Hannah was gorgeous but “not very personable.” On the other hand, Hannah thought, Who is this guy, and why does he keep staring at me?
This was only the beginning. Over the next three years, they grew very close. Almost every evening around 7 p.m, Nick would stroll over to Hannah’s office to see if she was still there. Hannah, knowing this was her chance to talk to him, would purposely stay late so they could chat. These nightly conversations grew longer and deeper, sometimes stretching until 10 p.m. Hannah and Nick both had a deep-seated feeling that they were meant to be, but neither of them made a move.
Despite these unspoken feelings, their bond continued to grow. They had even met each other’s families. Hannah introduced Nick to her mom and brothers, while Nick became close with Hannah’s brother, Matt. Hannah developed a close relationship with Nick’s dad, Tom, who she admired as a mentor and father figure. She also hit it off with Nicks’ mom, Pamela, and adored her. Nick’s sister Tess even became Hannah’s intern one summer. It seemed everyone around them knew they were meant to be together, but for a few years they remained just friends.
Then came the night that changed everything: April 20th, 2024. Hannah was downtown celebrating her brother Jack’s birthday with her family. After a few too many drinks, she decided to text Nick. What better excuse than the Green Bay Packers? Hannah’s message read, “Do you know the name of the Green Bay Packers bar downtown?” Within the hour, Nick was meeting up with her, her brothers, and her dad. As the night wore on and Hannah’s brother Jack prepared to leave, he pulled Nick aside and said, “Nick, you’re a good guy. Just go for it.”
After Jack’s encouraging words the night ended at Old Crowe with a live band, when Hannah reached over and took Nick’s hand. In that moment, after years of overthinking it, Nick finally made a move. The following Tuesday, Nick asked Hannah out, and on April 27th, 2024, they went on their first date. Eight months later, on the 20th of December, Nick popped the question…

We are so grateful that God brought us together and for the friends and family that got us to this point. We can’t wait to get married in June and are looking forward to celebrating with you all!
